E-Project Update - West Wellfield Project - 1/5/2010
* STARTING TOMORROW MORNING, Wednesday, Jan. 6, the contractor will
begin installation of the casing for the Floridan well that has been delayed
while awaiting the arrival of additional materials.
* PLEASE NOTE: Work will begin in the morning and run into the night,
with diesel being used to keep pumps operating, just as occurred in the
first casing installation. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience
this may cause.
* Downrite Engineering has completed the water main installation from
the Floridan Aquifer 2 (FA 2) well site to the Water Plant and is preparing
to run the pressure testing on the last section. The water main from the FA
2 well will be used to dispose of the water generated during the development
of the FA 2 well.
* In mid-January, work will begin on the Biscayne well, next to the
Floridan well. Equipment is being staged at the site.
o Excess soil for a berm is being stored adjacent to the park. The
city's Landscape Architect is working on recommendations for landscaping.
o City staff will meet with residents for input on plans for
landscaping and the berm structure.
o Landscape work will commence in Spring 2010, when work on the wells
is complete, and the equipment has been removed.
o Current plans call for using the city's Grounds Division staff to
shape the berm, and for funding of the plantings to come from the project
contingencies.
