Subject: WDCA -- Important Whitefly Update
Hello everyone.
Most of you have seen his email I sent last year in late November. Well I
just discovered that the infestation has returned to our neighborhood and if
you act now, you can save your trees / shrubs before they lose all of the
leaves. Don't ignore it.. You might be looking out your window as you read
this and say to yourself "I don't see anything wrong"
I urge you to look a little closer.. You should notice that the leaves are
starting to turn a bit lighter green or yellow. Look for the amount of
leaves that have dropped to the ground.
If you do not see this, then you might have had a treatment earlier this
year that still is taking a positive effect.
However, you should know that the recommended treatment is twice a year..
The good news is that you can treat this yourself if you do not want to pay
for a professional.
Last year, I think I paid about $120 for Trugreen to come do our 75 foot
hedge.
If you head over to Lowes, they have the correct treatment that includes the
chemical Imidacloprid in the product called BAYER ADVANCED Tree & Shrub
Protect & Feed Concentrate.
Item #: 163006 It costs only $19.97
There is also a larger quantity 1-Gallon Item#: 149106 available for
$69.97 for yards with much larger quantity or needs.

If you end up getting a professional to do this for you, be sure the
following is followed:
1: Make sure they are using Imidacloprid, which is a systemic pesticide that
protects the ficus from the inside out.
2: They should inject the solution into the roots, and only drench the roots
if they are spraying directly onto dirt (No leaves or mulch present)
3: They should not need to spray the leaves. Spraying the leaves can kill
all the beneficial pests on the plants
Just remember not to ignore this.. Even my neighbor did not take my warning
seriously and a week later he noticed that he can now see car from SW 10th
st passing by from his living room.
So now he is taking action.. This will happen so fast, you will not even
know it until it is too late and the leaves have mostly fallen off.
Good luck and talk to you all again soon.

Subject: [Email] Ficus Whitefly alert update! (Please read, this means you!)
FYI
I had a call from a homeowner that shared with me the fact that he thought
his ficus hedges and plants were not infected and that he did not have a
concern.
Then after he had his hedge trimmed, he saw the horror of the fact that he
can see right through his hedge.
This is exactly what happened to our hedge.
So let me reiterate these facts:
* Everyone is infected. Trust me on this. I have not found one yard
with ficus that are not.
* DO NOT TRIM YOUR FICUS HEDGES at this time. It may save your
hedges. They need leaves in order to survive.
* DO NOT OVERWATER THE HEDGES. This may lead to root rot.
* Soil application is the best method. Sprays alone are likely not to
correct the problem.
* Get professional help ASAP. DO NOT DELAY. As many are finding out,
some hedges are already too far gone and will most likely die.

Also, I ended up using Trugreen as they had the best price.
They quoted me .75 cents a linear foot.
