Deerfield Beach plans a busy week of holiday events
Westside Park Holiday Festivities and Winter Wonderland at Villages of
Hillsboro coming up

DEERFIELD BEACH - During the entire month of December, the City of Deerfield
Beach will host a variety of holiday events for all ages. Two of the city's
signature holiday events will take place next week: the Holiday Festivities
at Westside Park and Winter Wonderland at the Villages of Hillsboro Park.

On Wednesday, Dec. 16, Westside Park Recreation Center, 445 SW 2nd St., will
be a flurry of excitement, as the city hosts the the annual Holiday
Festivities. The fun begins at 6 PM, when Santa will arrive for a fun
evening of crafts, games and Christmas carols. Children will have a chance
to take a photo with Santa, while enjoying tasty holiday refreshments.
Raffle tickets will be on sale for $1 for a chance to win special prizes.

The following afternoon, Thursday, Dec. 17, frolic over to Villages of
Hillsboro Park, 4111 NW 6th St., for an afternoon of walking in a Winter
Wonderland. This event is a community favorite, where youngsters (and the
young at heart) have a chance to experience a real "up north" style holiday,
featuring horse-drawn hayrides and actual SNOW. Santa will once again be on
hand for photos, as children play the giant peppermint twist game and enjoy
holiday treats. The event will run from 3-5 PM. For more information, call

Also, on the holiday schedule next week, Santa Calling, on Dec. 14 and 15,
where children ages 2-8 can receive a personalized call from Mr. Claus
himself. Calling sheets are available at all city recreation centers. For

Finally, on Saturday, Dec. 19, the Teen Center, 580 S Powerline Rd., is
hosting a Holiday Luncheon. From 2-5 PM, all ages are invited to join
members of the Teen Center staff for good food and holiday cheer. For more

All events are free and open to the public.
